Artificial genetic mutations are irreversible and uncontrollable, once new genetically modified varieties have been introduced, all other similar plants are destined to become bastardized with consequent reproductive "vice" and inability to offer a safe defense against diseases, contrary to what is declared by the producers. , and to respond adequately to climatic or environmental variations. GMOs are a time bomb that has already begun to mark time ... warning us that the moment of the "explosion" is almost here ...

In fact, genetic mutations occur spontaneously in nature and those that are favorable to the survival and development of the species are maintained while the unfavorable ones are destined to disappear. On the contrary, the genetic mutations artificially caused by man are functional to imprint in the species characteristics that are favorable to the interests of man and not of the species themselves or of the environment that hosts them.

Pollen contamination by GMOs and, above all, the Horizontal Gene Transfer of parts of the transgenic DNA, from one species to another, represent a threat to health, the environment, the agricultural traditions of peoples.

In fact, the evils caused by GMOs do not arise only in the inevitable mutations and contaminations of plant species. Globalization in the agricultural sector imposes such fierce competition and agronomic and production techniques that are able to increasingly reduce production costs. Also in Italy, therefore, there is a rush to intensive and monoculture agriculture, which has prevented the typical agricultural rotation and favored the onset of weeds and resistant parasites. Hence the use of poisons. The GMO technique does nothing but confirm and consolidate this type of intensive monoculture agriculture, which focuses entirely on yields per hectare, but takes away the flavors and smells typical of our agricultural products.

Perhaps, perhaps it is still possible to block the process of mongrelization and cancellation of the life known to us…. however, we must act quickly, before it is too late, we must defuse the bomb, stopping the release of new GMO species into the environment. It is necessary to prevent the spread of these crops in Italy ...

Italy can still do something, perhaps making use of the peculiarities of its Mediterranean and mountain environment, proposing itself as a country that conserves ancient seeds and bioregional biodiversity. And this is intended as an invitation to the government in charge to declare our peninsula a "GMO Free Oasis". A sort of world reserve of nature. A temple of Nature.

“La fine del mondo inizia con la fine della biodiversità…” (Saul Arpino)

Le mutazioni genetiche artificiali sono irreversibili ed incontrollabili, una volta che sono state immesse nuove varietà geneticamente modificate tutte le altre piante consimili sono destinate ad imbastardirsi con conseguente “vizio” riproduttivo ed incapacità di offrire una sicura difesa alle malattie, contrariamente a quanto dichiarato dai produttori, e di rispondere in modo adeguato alle variazioni climatiche o ambientali. Gli OGM sono una bomba ad orologeria che ha già iniziato a scandire il tempo… avvertendoci che il momento della “esplosione” è quasi giunto…

Infatti in natura le mutazione genetiche avvengono spontaneamente e quelle che risultano favorevoli alla sopravvivenza ed allo sviluppo delle specie si mantengono mentre quelle sfavorevoli sono destinate a scomparire. Al contrario le mutazioni genetiche provocate artificialmente dall’uomo sono funzionali a imprimere nelle specie caratteristiche che sono favorevoli agli interessi dell’uomo e non delle specie in se stesse o dell’ambiente che le ospita.

La contaminazione del Polline da OGM e, soprattutto, il Trasferimento Genico Orizzontale di parti del DNA transgenico, da una specie all’altra, rappresentano una minaccia per la salute, l’ambiente, le tradizioni agricole dei popoli.

Infatti i mali provocati dagli OGM non sorgono solo nelle inevitabili mutazioni e contaminazioni delle specie vegetali.. La globalizzazione nel settore agricolo impone una concorrenza così feroce e tecniche agronomiche e produttive che siano in grado di ridurre sempre più i costi di produzione. Anche in Italia quindi vi è la corsa ad una agricoltura intensiva e monocolturale, che ha impedito la tipica rotazione agraria ed ha favorito l’insorgenza di malerbe infestanti e parassiti resistenti. Da qui l’uso di veleni. La tecnica degli OGM non fa altro che confermare e consolidare questo tipo di agricoltura intensiva monocolturale, che punta tutto alle rese ettaro, ma ci toglie i sapori e gli odori tipici dei nostri prodotti agricoli.

Forse, forse è ancora possibile bloccare il processo di imbastardimento e cancellazione della vita a noi conosciuta…. però occorre far presto, prima che sia troppo tardi, occorre disinnescare la bomba, interrompendo l’immissione di nuove specie OGM nell’ambiente. Occorre impedire la diffusione di tali coltivazioni in Italia…

L’Italia può ancora fare qualcosa magari avvalendosi delle peculiarità del suo ambiente mediterraneo e montano, proponendosi come un paese conservatore di antiche sementi e della biodiversità bioregionale. E questo vuole essere un invito al Governo in carica per dichiarare la nostra penisola un’ “Oasi OGM Free”. Una sorta di riserva mondiale della natura. Un tempio della Natura.
