Luni

Narce

The following is an example of a "psychohistorical" story, as I perceived events after a visit to the Mignone Valley, where Luni, a contemporary of Narce in the Treja Valley, was located. Both cities are considered the oldest in Italy.

In the original plot, within the interplay of power mechanisms within human society, it seemed destined that Luni, meaning moon, the proto-city on the Mignone, would become a beacon of civilization for the entire Old Continent. Luni was born as a female project for an egalitarian society, an early social experiment in harmony between the two genders. Consequently, this city, which dates back to the late Neolithic-early Bronze Age, was conceived as a place of orgiastic encounters and complete freedom of expression. The resulting flourishing was a society as fluid and flowing as water. Indeed, the priests of Luni worshipped water and had psychic control over it. Things seemed to be going well, and there were no concerns about the emergence of a great liberal civilization.

Meanwhile, however, outside of any creative convention, another city had arisen, a few kilometers away as the crow flies, built on the banks of a golden river, once the Tiber, now the Treja. This inconvenience, this intruder, which inserted itself into the plans of power and social models, was called Narce, which means ark.

The proto-city of Narce was the repository of fire, the sacred rite of fire manifested through customs, indications that followed a set of values.

The inhabitants of Narce were shepherds who erected altars to worship the god of fire. The constant burning gave the priests of Narce psychic control over the fire.

Soon, when it became clear that the advocated examples were opposed, a subtle conflict began between the two cities. Narce and Luni fought each other first on ideological grounds, attempting to demonstrate the value and meaning of the social message evoked in their model, but they were unsuccessful, as both examples provided sufficient reasons for their existence. Obviously, the priests felt that a compromise was impossible; the two positions were too distant and antagonistic. Fire versus Water.

The sages of the two cities then decided to use the powers they had acquired over the elements to influence or destroy the opposing nucleus. The magicians of Narce unleashed the maximum amount of feral energy on Luni, and those of Luni disturbed the waters of Narce. The result was that each of the two communities had to isolate itself completely to defend itself from the psychic emissions. The two communities hid from each other, becoming invisible cities. The unusual outcome of this struggle led to a change in the original plan of civilization.

Luni or Narce, neither able to emerge and having even disappeared from view, passed their model to the collective unconscious and hid in their earthly niches, leaving only cryptic hidden signals thousands of years old. Meanwhile, the battle had changed hands, the blueprint for future civilization had to move forward, and the destiny of humanity, in this part of the world, continued to weave its web. And it manifested itself—once again—in two opposing models: Rome and Veii. But this time the priests and powerful men of the two cities, mindful of the disappearance of Luni and Narce due to the unleashing of the thought waves, decided to resort to other means and so invented war.

Questo che segue è un esempio di racconto “psicostorico”, per come avevo percepito gli eventi dopo una mia visita nella valle del Mignone, ove insisteva Luni, coeva di Narce situata nella valle del Treja. Entrambe le città sono considerate le più antiche d’Italia

Nei piani della trama primigenia, nel gioco dei meccanismi di potere  all’interno della società umana, pareva destino che Luni, che vuol dire luna, la proto città sul Mignone, divenisse il faro di luce della civiltà  per l’intero vecchio continente. Luni era nata come progetto femminile di una società egualitaria, un primo esperimento sociale di armonia fra i due generi. Di conseguenza questa città, che si fa risalire al tardo neolitico – prima età del bronzo,  era concepita come luogo d’incontro orgiastico e di piena libertà espressiva. La fioritura conseguente fu una società  fluida e scorrevole, come l’acqua. Ed infatti i sacerdoti di Luni adoravano l’acqua ed avevano controlli psichici su questo elemento.  Le cose sembravano andare per il verso giusto e non sussistevano preoccupazioni per la espressione di una grande civiltà  liberale.

Nel frattempo però, al di fuori da ogni convenzione creativa, era sorta un’altra città, a pochi chilometri in linea d’aria, costruita  sulle sponde di un  fiume biondo, che era stato il Tevere,  ed ora era il Treja. Quest’incomodo, questo intruso, che si inseriva nei piani del potere e dei modelli sociali,   si chiamava  Narce, che vuol dire arca.

La proto città di Narce era depositaria del fuoco, il sacro rito del fuoco che si manifesta  attraverso i costumi,  indicazioni  che seguono un ordine di valori. Gli abitanti  di Narce  erano pastori che innalzavano are per adorare il dio del fuoco. Il continuo ardere dava ai sacerdoti di Narce il controllo psichico sul fuoco.

Ben presto, allorché fu chiaro che gli esempi propugnati erano opposti, iniziò un subdolo contrasto fra le due città. Narce e Luni si combatterono prima sul piano ideologico, cercando di dimostrare  il valore ed il significato del messaggio sociale evocati nel loro modello ma non ebbero successo in ciò giacché  entrambi gli esempi fornivano ragioni sufficienti di esistenza. Ovviamente i sacerdoti sentivano che un compromesso non era possibile, le due posizioni erano troppo distanti ed antagoniste. Fuoco contro Acqua.

I sapienti delle due città decisero allora di utilizzare i poteri acquisiti  sugli elementi in modo da condizionare o distruggere il nucleo opposto.  I maghi di Narce scaricarono il massimo dell’energia  ferale su Luni e quelli di Luni sconvolsero le acque di Narce.  Il risultato fu che ognuna delle due comunità dovette isolarsi completamente per difendersi dalle emissioni psichiche.  Le due comunità si nascosero l’un l’altra divenendo città invisibili. Il risultato insolito di questa lotta portò al cambiamento del piano originario di civiltà.  

Luni  o Narce , nessuna delle due essendo in grado di emergere ed essendo addirittura scomparse alla vista, esse passarono il loro modello all’inconscio collettivo e  si celarono nelle loro nicchie di terra, lasciando solo criptici segnali nascosti vecchi di migliaia di anni. Nel frattempo la lotta era passata di mano, lo schema per la civiltà futura doveva andare avanti, ed il destino dell’uomo, in questa parte del mondo, continuò a tessere la sua tela. E si   manifestò  -ancora una volta- in due modelli antagonisti: Roma e Veio. Ma stavolta i sacerdoti ed i potenti delle due città, memori della scomparsa di Luni e Narce per colpa dello scatenamento delle onde pensiero, decisero di ricorrere ad altri mezzi e così   s’inventarono la guerra.
