"You are not the thinker, thoughts just appear..." - "Non sei il pensatore, i pensieri appaiono e basta...”

 

Our life is linked to a series of circumstances over which we have no control but, as Nisargadatta said, we are an integral part of the total manifestation and total functioning and in no way can we be separated from it. Consequently, being consciousness in consciousness, we are able to recognize the energy flow in which we are immersed and ensure that our thoughts and actions are in tune with the quality of the space-time experienced. In this perpetual energetic reshuffling, we are like aimless navigators, or warriors – if you prefer – free to face the contingent without fear. “If you fear suffering – said a samurai – how can you fight?”

From the whole, the whole unravels before our eyes.

In the story of the Chinese zodiac, it is said that twelve animals presented themselves to the dying Buddha and each one obtained to embody the psychic characteristics that distinguish the three aspects of year, month and hour, based on the natural propensities of every living being. They are male and female and manifest their characteristics through the 5 fundamental phases of mutation: Earth (devotion), Metal (justice), Water (wisdom), Wood (ethics), Fire (customs).

The operation is more or less that of the kaleidoscope. Some colored elements and three internal mirrors. By turning the tube you get different compositions. Despite the smallness of the components the results can be infinite. This same concept (translated to the 5 elements and the three incarnated psychic aspects) shows the variegation of shades of color and movement through which the individual consciousness manifests itself (the form and the name). The consciousness of the self, which we call person, is an internal coordinator, adapted to the individuation, which appropriates the functions put in place.

We call it: I. This ‘subject’ (or internal assumer) is the individual identifying appearance in which we usually recognize ourselves. Strictly speaking, this “I” is itself the “consequence” of the energies set in motion by the various elements and the three incarnated archetypes, therefore it is inert (like a program), and it is an object in consciousness.

The three psycho-emotional archetypes, inseparable in their mixture, represent:

The sense of the self, ego = year of birth;

The intellect or intuition = time of birth;

The memory or experience = month of birth

Each of us manifests an exemplary form with three faces (designating our characteristics). The innate tendencies that are reflected in the mirror, perpetually changing, are the currents in which the self moves.

If we want to observe a small thing we must enlarge it through the microscope, but if we want to broaden the field of action we must detach ourselves as much as possible from the things around us, so as to perceive the overall sense. This race in circles towards self-knowledge is a dreamy wandering, an unanswered attention, solitude and silence, observation and contemplation, flowing clearly in changes, smiling in chasing the void.

And now a little story:

“Some of his followers asked the bandit Che: “Is there a road (Tao) for thieves too?” – “Oh, of course there is.. – Che replied – Holiness is intuiting where a hidden treasure lies, Heroism is entering the house first, Justice is leaving last, Wisdom is distinguishing the hit that can be attempted, Humanity means being equanimous in dividing the loot. In the world there has never existed a great thief who has not manifested these qualities”. (Chuang Tze)

Through the reflective capacities of the internal organ (antakharana) we are able to manifest psychophysical energies in response to those perceived outside of us. This response is automatic and inevitable, it is a natural law. To think of escaping its course is as absurd as thinking of changing the film while the film is being projected. But the internal attitude is important! In fact, the acceptance of one’s destiny dissolves the attachment to the useful and the useless that pushes us into the cycle of rebirths.

In ignorance we identify with the characters and consider ourselves authors and responsible for the game played, with gain and loss, the truth is that our ego, the individual consciousness, the person embodied by us, is only an image. The result of a distracted automatism and an illusory identification. We must understand this well if we do not want the mind to deceive us. Let us not fall into the delirium of the separate ego, even if the consciousness that animates it is true from now and we are already equipped with the initial capital for that "self-knowledge" it is absurd and ridiculous to think of "obtaining" it - strictly speaking it is not possible. It is already fully manifest here and now and therefore not achievable as another achievement. If we feel attracted by this "knowledge" it must be said that there is no course or explanation or experiment that can transmit it, it can only be recognized (awakened) by "sympathy" at the moment of maturation. Since it is not an "achievement" we continue to "go forward by instinct".

La nostra vita è legata ad una serie di circostanze di cui non abbiamo il controllo ma, come diceva Nisargadatta, noi siamo parte integrante della manifestazione totale e del totale funzionamento ed in nessuna maniera possiamo esserne separati. Di conseguenza, essendo coscienza nella coscienza, siamo in grado di riconoscere il flusso energetico nel quale siamo immersi e far sì che il nostro pensiero e la nostra azione siano in sintonia con la qualità dello spazio-tempo vissuto. In questo perenne rimescolamento energetico, noi siamo come navigatori senza meta, o guerrieri – se preferite – liberi di affrontare il contingente senza paure. “Se temi la sofferenza – diceva un samurai – come fai a combattere?”

Dal tutto il tutto si dipana dinnanzi ai nostri occhi.

Nella storia dello zodiaco cinese si racconta che dodici animali si presentano al Buddha morente ed ognuno ottenne di incarnare le caratteristiche psichiche che contraddistinguono i tre aspetti di anno, mese e ora, in base alle propensioni naturali di ogni essere vivente. Essi sono maschili e femminili e manifestano le loro caratteristiche tramite le 5 fasi di mutazione fondamentali: Terra (devozione), Metallo (giustizia), Acqua (saggezza), Legno (etica), Fuoco (costumi).

Il funzionamento è più o meno quello del caleidoscopio. Alcuni elementi colorati e tre specchietti interni. Girando il tubo si ottengono diverse composizioni. Malgrado l’esiguità delle componenti i risultati possono essere infiniti. Questo stesso concetto (traslato ai 5 elementi ed ai tre aspetti psichici incarnati) mostra la variegazione di tonalità di colore e movimento attraverso la quale la coscienza individuale si manifesta (la forma ed il nome). La coscienza di sé, che noi chiamiamo persona, è un coordinatore interno, adattato all’individuazione, il quale si appropria delle funzioni messe in atto.

Lo chiamiamo: io. Questo ‘soggetto’ (o assuntore interno) è l’apparenza identificativa individuale nella quale solitamente ci riconosciamo. Propriamente parlando questo “io” è esso stesso la “conseguenza” delle energie messe in moto dai vari elementi e dai tre archetipi incarnati, quindi è inerte (come un programma), ed è un oggetto nella coscienza.

I tre archetipi psico-emozionali, inscindibili nel loro miscuglio, rappresentano:

Il senso dell’io, ego = anno di nascita;
L’intelletto o intuizione = ora di nascita;
La memoria o esperienza = mese di nascita

Ognuno di noi manifesta una forma esemplare a tre facce (designanti le nostre caratteristiche). Le tendenze innate che si riflettono nello specchio, perennemente cangianti, sono le correnti in cui l’io si muove.

Se vogliamo osservare una cosa piccola bisogna ingrandirla attraverso il microscopio, ma se vogliamo ampliare il campo di azione dobbiamo distaccarci il più possibile dalle cose attorno a noi, in modo da percepire il senso d’insieme. Questa corsa in tondo verso l’auto-conoscenza è un vagare trasognato, un’attenzione senza risposta, solitudine e silenzio, osservazione e contemplazione, fluire limpido nei mutamenti, sorridere nel rincorrere il vuoto.

Ed ora una storiella:

“Alcuni suoi seguaci domandarono al bandito Che:”Anche per i ladri esiste una strada (Tao)?” – “Eh, certo che sì.. – rispose Che- Santità è intuire dove giace un tesoro nascosto, Eroismo è entrare per primo nella casa, Giustizia è uscirne per ultimo, Saggezza è distinguere il colpo che si può tentare, Umanità significa essere equanimi nel dividere il bottino. Al mondo non è mai esistito un gran ladro che non abbia manifestato queste qualità”. (Chuang Tze)

Attraverso le capacità riflettenti dell’organo interno (antakharana) siamo in grado di manifestare energie psicofisiche in rispondenza a quelle percepite fuori di noi. Questa rispondenza è automatica ed inevitabile, è una legge naturale. Pensare di sfuggirne il corso è assurdo come pensare di cambiare il film mentre la pellicola viene proiettata. Ma l’atteggiamento interno è importante! Infatti l’accettazione del proprio destino scioglie l ‘attaccamento all’utile ed all’inutile che ci spinge nel ciclo delle rinascite.

Nell’ignoranza ci identifichiamo con i personaggi e ci consideriamo autori e responsabili del gioco vissuto, con guadagno e perdita, la verità è che il nostro io, la coscienza individuale, la persona da noi incarnata, è solo un’immagine. Il risultato di un automatismo distratto e di una identificazione illusoria. Questo dobbiamo comprendere bene se non vogliamo che la mente ci imbrogli. Non cadiamo nel delirio dell’io separato, anche se la coscienza che lo anima è vera sin d’ora e siamo già dotati del capitale iniziale per quella “conoscenza di sé” è assurdo e ridicolo pensare di “ottenerla” – strettamente parlando non è possibile. Essa è già integralmente manifesta qui ed ora e quindi non perseguibile come ottenimento altro. Se ci sentiamo attratti da questa “conoscenza” occorre dire che non c’è corso o spiegazione o esperimento che possa trasmetterla, può essere solo riconosciuta (risvegliata) per “simpatia” nel momento della maturazione. Siccome non è un “conseguimento” continuiamo ad “andare avanti a fiuto”.

“Semplici attori, finché separati, poi, superata la dualità, non ha più nessuna importanza… Il fiore non ha più nome né forma è solo un fiore unico ed irripetibile nel giardino della Coscienza”.
