Knowing how to transmit images is a shamanic function, it is the ability to emit thought forms making them visible in the mind of others. This is also the ability of the poet, the artist or anyone who "renounces" the analytical logical description by drawing directly from the unconscious.
And it is perfectly true that the Spirit cannot be described but only experienced and here it "appears" that the place, the environment in which one lives, is no different from the self through which it is experienced, or so it seems to me. By remaining in that "natural" state in which any difference between seer and seen disappears.
And at this point what is the point of continuing to try to describe the indefinable (due to the limitation of the mind)? What "is" is pure and simple consciousness, neither person nor place, neither one nor two… and not even zero!
So let's leave aside the dream metaphysics and really talk about the “place” - the bioregion in which we find ourselves. Today "our" land is polluted and debased in various ways.
If we want the charm of life on this Earth to make sense and to be possible for future generations too, the time has now come for unstoppable choices, linked to our diet and habits, to the type of consumer goods used, to our general approach in comparisons of life.
Recognition of the value of our habitat as a source of life is simply necessary as we are not separated from it, we are not aliens on this earth we so brutally and foolishly destroy, everything that is badly done to it we do to ourselves. And it is not enough to say that “we must reduce consumption and limit energy subjection”.
Economy is not talk or speculation, economy means "giving a name and meaning to the environment" and what has a name also has a function and is alive, indeed it is the only vital resource.
And here I must necessarily insert another - for me - important consideration on the ecological relationship with the habitat and all its inhabitants.
I'll start with "pets". 750 cans of dog or cat food are needed to have the equivalent weight of a medium-sized person (excluding bones). So after giving 750 cans to our "pets" it is as if we had killed a person by feeding them. Such a comparison seems cruel and exaggerated, the fact is that from the point of view of life it makes no difference between a calf and a man. In truth, dogs and cats in our society are no longer "animals", they are mere appendages of the human. They are our clumsy attempt to justify ourselves with ourselves and with nature. How many cats and dogs could naturally survive if they weren't fed in cans by us? And why do we feed them? For the latter question, the answer is simple: we need their complicity to feel "normal" (okay with the bill) and friends of life. Through them (dogs and cats and other pets) we try to soothe our malaise and our alienation. But let's go back to the question that has not yet been answered ... cats able to survive would be as many as wild cats and dogs would be as many as wolves ... In Italy they would be very few, perhaps a few thousand and no more. On the contrary, domestic dogs and cats are several million, many millions of specimens which confirm our unhealthy "vice".
We have the "vice" of domination over nature, a dominion that is manifested above all with industrial agriculture in order to satisfy the needs of industrial farming. We devour and destroy the earth with farming and the agricultural industry. Most of which fruit goes to feed the herbivorous slaughter animals, another goes to our "pet friends", yet another ends up in the bins and the rest serves to inflate man beyond belief, making him ill and making him similar to the ogres of fairy tales….
No wonder that the sense of common belonging to life is disappearing among us, selfishness and stupidity reign supreme, they go hand in hand with the increase in consumption of meat and sophistry. In English they call them "delicatessen" but it is just a euphemism not to say "food cemetery", perhaps as well organized as a "splendid" Nazi extermination camp. But the difference between executioners and victims is increasingly blurred, it is increasingly confused….
Naturalness, magic, ethics? Let's call things by their name ...

Ed è perfettamente vero che lo Spirito non può essere descritto ma solo sperimentato e qui “appare” che il luogo, l’ambiente in cui si vive, non è diverso dal sé attraverso il quale viene sperimentato, od almeno così mi sembra. Permanendo in quello stato “naturale” in cui ogni differenza fra veggente e visto scompare.

Ed a questo punto che senso ha continuare a tentare di descrivere l’indefinibile (a causa della limitazione della mente)? Quel che “è” è pura e semplice coscienza, né persona né luogo, né uno né due … e nemmeno zero!

Lasciamo quindi da parte la metafisica onirica e parliamo veramente del “luogo” -della bioregione in cui ci troviamo. La “nostra” terra viene oggi inquinata e svilita in vari modi.

Se vogliamo che il fascino della vita in questa Terra abbia un senso e sia possibile anche per le generazioni future è giunto ora il tempo di scelte improcrastinabili, legate alla nostra alimentazione ed abitudini, al tipo di beni di consumo utilizzati, al nostro approccio generale nei confronti della vita.

Il riconoscimento del valore del nostro habitat, in quanto fonte di vita, è semplicemente necessario poiché noi non siamo separati da esso, non siamo alieni su questa terra che così brutalmente e stupidamente distruggiamo, tutto ciò che vien fatto di male ad essa lo facciamo a noi stessi. E non basta dirlo che “dobbiamo diminuire il consumo e limitare la sudditanza energetica”.

Economia non sono chiacchiere o speculazioni, economia significa “dare nome e significato all’ambiente” e ciò che ha un nome ha pure una funzione ed è vivo, anzi è l’unica risorsa vitale.

E qui debbo per forza inserire un’altra -per me- importante considerazione sul rapporto ecologico con l’habitat ed i suoi abitanti tutti.

Comincerò dagli “animali da compagnia”. Occorrono 750 scatolette di cibo per cani o gatti per avere l’equivalente in peso di una persona di media taglia (ossa escluse). Quindi dopo aver dato 750 scatolette ai nostri “pets” è come se avessimo ucciso una persona dandola loro in pasto. Sembra crudele ed esagerata una simile comparazione, il fatto è che dal punto di vista della vita non fa differenza fra un vitello od un uomo. In verità i cani ed i gatti nella nostra società non sono più “animali” sono semplici appendici dell’umano. Sono il nostro tentativo maldestro di giustificarci con noi stessi e con la natura. Quanti cani e gatti potrebbero sopravvivere naturalmente se non fossero da noi nutriti a scatolette? E perché li nutriamo? Per quest’ultima domanda la risposta è semplice: abbiamo bisogno della loro complicità per sentirci “normali” (a posto con il conto) ed amici della vita. Tramite essi (i cani ed i gatti e gli altri pets) tentiamo di lenire il nostro malessere e la nostra alienazione. Ma torniamo alla domanda che non ha avuto ancora risposta… i gatti in grado di sopravvivere sarebbero tanti quanti i gatti selvatici ed i cani sarebbero tanti quanti i lupi… In Italia sarebbero ben pochi, forse qualche migliaio e non di più. Al contrario i cani ed i gatti domestici sono svariati milioni, molti milioni di esemplari che confermano il nostro malsano “vizio”.

Noi abbiamo il “vizio” del dominio sulla natura, un dominio che soprattutto si manifesta con l’agricoltura industriale in ragione di soddisfare le esigenze dell’allevamento industriale. Divoriamo e distruggiamo la terra con l’allevamento e l’industria agricola. Gran parte dei quali frutti va a nutrire gli animali da macello erbivori, un’altra va ai nostri “amici da compagnia”, un’altra ancora finisce nei cassonetti ed il restante serve a gonfiare l’uomo all’inverosimile, ammalandolo e rendendolo simile agli orchi delle favole….

Nessuna meraviglia che fra di noi stia scomparendo il senso dell’appartenenza comune alla vita, l’egoismo e la stupidità imperano sovrani, vanno di pari passo con l’aumento dei consumi della carne e delle sofisticherie. In inglese le chiamano “delicatessen” ma è solo un eufemismo per non dire “cimitero” alimentare, magari ben organizzato tanto quanto uno “splendido” campo di sterminio nazista. Ma la differenza tra carnefici e vittime e sempre più labile, è sempre più confusa….
