The true implementation of bioregionalism lies in the implementation of the ecological economy and this is achieved here, among us, in this very society! Ecological economics does not hypothesize a return to primitivism but identifies the opportunity for a rebalancing in the current conditions of advanced society.
The continuity of our society, as a species, requires an evolutionary key, a global vision, by means of which we can open our minds to the awareness of sharing the life experience with the entire planet. This vision corresponds to the ecology of the depths, the science of the inseparability of life.
It follows that the human economy can and must take ecology into account to initiate technological and ethical progress that is not opposed to life and that is in tune with the life processes of the planet. Science and technology in every field of application will have to answer the question: "Is this environmentally compatible?"
Machinery, energy sources, disposal of by-products, use of resources, etc. they will have to be realized in terms of ecological sustainability. A rapid process of industrial and agricultural reconversion and requalification will be launched, which in itself will be able to support the economy. In fact, the reconversion alone will favor overcoming the current state of enpasse by imparting great input to economic and social development. A great human revolution including our making peace with the "global" life of the planet.
After more than half a century of uncertainty, we can declare that the time interval called "post-war" and "cold war" is over. Thus we close the moment that began with Yalta (of precarious balances in terms of "right & left") to arrive at a dawn of genuine human and ecological values based on mutual respect for existing forms.
This also happens through the acquisition of an ancient / new way of thinking that refers to the basic law of life. that is: live and let live.
The possibility that the present system of consumer civilization leads to an enpasse and the fall of any vital value is increasingly evident by observing the backwardness with which our rulers and administrators deal with social and environmental problems. The evolutionary key proposed by us lies in the radical change of vision, passing from the "right-left" criterion (now overtaken by the situation) to a consciousness of coexistence and sharing of the vital context, a consciousness devoid of hypocrisy and cunning, aimed at deepening of the values of life (in society and in the habitat).
This vision is an alternative to the old superficial system that takes into account only appearance and consumption. In fact, by abandoning the now obsolete concept of "right-left" we can easily enter the world of "belonging and sharing". The awareness of being an integral part of the whole is the only way out of the vortex of a repetitive and ruinous barbarism.
